This is a problem I noticed as I recently updated all of my MACINTOSH computers to the latest models, running Mavericks OSX 10.9 - that as I was typing away, such as here at the forum, that the screen would keep annoyingly switching over to the Finder screen, forcing me to switch back over in order to keep typing.
One culprit for this is Google Drive - shut this down because its real time operations demand the attention of your computer, forcing it back to the Finder screen. But another culprit I discovered is Cox Secure Online Backup, which is apparently a similar always-on, always running program. Turn it off as well unless you want to keep switching back and forth between Finder and whatever task or window you have going.
For some reason, Dropbox, a similarly functioning program, does NOT create this issue. I have it running still, and no conflicts.
