Paypal Wants My Social Security Number - is it possible to bypass the request?

Can I answer all Paypal questions except my SS number and get anywhere?
Has anyone just told them you don't give it out?

just a rule of the thumb every USA account needs a SSN to Lift a limitation.

It is possible to bypass the PayPal social security requirement - open a tech support to learn how, but better is to create the account PROPERLY in the first place using my short list and thereby delay the social security request as long as possible, because bypassing it is an expensive process.
