Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, found you guys linked from another blog.
So, I've been selling on ebay since 1999.
Mostly things have gone OK.
Recently I sold a speaker to a guy,
Return Policy stated "No Returns" "AS IS"...
He kept it for a month, damaged it, complained to Ebay who then
paid him $69 which includes the original shipping fees.
He sends it back, and as soon as the delivery confirmation showed
"delivered" they, Ebay, refunded his money.
From what I've seen of this process, it would have been just as easy to send
an envelope with a delivery confirmation and then you'd have to deal with no merchandise and no money!
In my case, he had the speaker for a month, damaged it, and then returned it to ME, with ebay's blessing, those blank-suckers.
So now, they want me to set up a "reimbursement method".
This must be new, or I would've had it already.
When I went to look at the page, I had to say I'd agree to
pay anyone anytime that they decide I should, irregardless of the terms of the auction for like, forever!?
Mmmmm......free access to my bank accounts? I didn't like that idea.
The whole thing sounds illegal to me, as far trade laws and the like.
Am I bound by these new policies?
So I sat on my hands for a while, trying to decide what to do.
The idea of getting a VISA check card occurred to me, to limit my liability, and also to not sell on ebay anymore.
But NOW, the account is in collections.
So who do I pay?
To reinstate my account I have to do it online.
But if the debt has been sold to a collection agency,
and i pay online, will the collection agency then go away?
Or can I pay the collection agency, and then they will see to it that the money is reflected on my ebay account as settled?
Somehow I doubt this....
Suggestions?
