  • Ebay "Selling Limits" - how to deal with and raise selling limits on ANY Ebay account

Beginning in 2011, Ebay started advising sellers of specific "limits" on the dollar amounts they may sell in a month.

    Limits on eBay sellers

What a lot of people do not realize, is that this is nothing new, and that Ebay has always imposed such limits. The difference is that now, Ebay reveals to sellers exactly what the limits are.

There are many techniques a seller may utilize to increase these limits, or, more importantly on newer accounts or on accounts that are ramping up to serious volume, to avoid the limits entirely. These are outlined in various Modee tech support documents including my VERO Guide. Most of the techniques are common sense but unfortunately that does not mean that people use their common sense much when it comes to Ebay - often greed and short sightedness cloud their judgment.

One thing that has definitely changed is that previously, Ebay would scrutinize an account carefully and impose limits before it had aged 30 days - now that scrutiny has extended to 90 days. So, don't sell too much or anything much risky or VERO before 90 days, unless of course you learn HOW, with my techniques.

There is a lot of misinformation out there. Some think that in order to raise Ebay selling limits, one must provide a social security number, or company EIN, and that Ebay will verify identity and run credit before raising the limits.

This is for the most part not true.

First of all, as far as verifying identity, for many years now Ebay has had an ID verification system in place. It verifies identity through a government ID, or through some other forms of verification. Nothing new. But Ebay has always (and still does) give sellers the option to simply attach a credit card and thereby avoid this identity verification.

However, what is somewhat new and is related to
Reporting requirements - U.S. merchant accounts beginning January 1, 2012 - IRS taxes - Free EBAY, PayPal, Business and Law Forums - Ebay Suspension, PayPal Limited
Taxes - PayPal, other credit card processors reporting income (gross receipts) to IRS - Free EBAY, PayPal, Business and Law Forums - Ebay Suspension, PayPal Limited
is that PayPal is increasingly requesting social security or EIN numbers from sellers, even before you reach the threshold reporting requirement of $20,000. and 200 items. And what is somewhat new, is that EBay in some cases will prevent you from listing at all, until you provide PayPal with the information they want. I say only "somewhat" new because ever since Ebay bought PayPal in 2002, issues you have on the PayPal side have affected your Ebay account.

So what is going on, is that if you have a PayPal linked to your Ebay, Ebay is strong arming some sellers into providing what PayPal is requesting, which often includes a social security number request. And then PayPal is running credit.

eBay Blocks Users for Not Providing Tax IDs to PayPal

There are a number of solutions for this social security number request by PayPal, and one of them is to get a merchant account of your own, and avoid PayPal entirely. Now, if you do any volume, that merchant processor will request information from you too, but if you know what you are doing, you can get the merchant account in a company name with a real EIN, and then link it to your Ebay and make everyone happy, and not constantly worry about this threshold limit for sales.

Through Modee tech support, anything is possible.

Ebay selling limits may be dealt with - even on a stealth created account

You will find that Ebay will sometimes impose selling limits even if you have a PayPal attached to your account, or if you do not have a PayPal attached, and you are selling through your own merchant account.

The sort of questions asked by Ebay to raise your selling limits may be answered, even on a stealth created account, IF:

1 - It is created using my Short List. (And not created through any other guide on the internet - especially not if it was created by something like other worthless "Stealth Guides" which advocate providing random phony information to Ebay),

2 - You follow the latest techniques in my latest versions of the Short List to answer the Ebay questions that WILL be asked in order to raise your selling limits. The Short List TEACHES you how to anticipate and answer correctly the questions Ebay will ask you.

If your Ebay account is improperly created, or you do not know how to answer the questions asked, not only will your selling limits remain, but your account will be promptly shut down when you try to deal with the selling limits matter.
